Revisiting A Run In The Park

Since I'm just starting to post content, I decided to visit some of my older stuff. Today I will share one of my favorites, A Run In The Park. I like to run so I had an idea to make a movie about it. I like how it turned out because it is how I usually run without music or distractions. I shot it with my Casio Exilim EX-S12 and a small tripod. This was the first video I edited using PowerDirector. I'll provide more insight below but for now, here's the video.

My original intention was to shoot this while going for my regular weekend run but I found that would not quite work out. I shot it mostly in sequence. I started in my room putting my shoes on then walked downstairs. I shot a sequence of me filling my water bottle but it ended up on the cutting room floor.

Once I arrived at the park, I already had ideas on locations given my familiarity with the park but I scouted for interesting locations. I setup the low angles for an interesting look but mostly because it isn't a very stable tripod. I started recording and I ran one way, then turned around and ran the other way. I turned the camera and did it facing the other way to edit together. For the handheld shots, I extended the tripod and held it while running about a foot away.

I shot this on a Saturday around noon when there aren't many people at the park. At one point, you can see a lady look directly at the camera and I didn't want to burn the shot so I just kept running hoping she wasn't going to take my camera. I got a few weird looks throughout the shooting but it's all good.

After I finished shooting, I walked back to leave my camera and tripod at home and then went back to finish my run. Once I started editing I realized that some scenes I had the water bottle and some I didn't.

Behind the scenes type video with commentary and extra scenes.
